Unfortunate to hear a lot of mixed reviews about Solmaz. I’ve been coming here for a couple years and just come for the meat. I have never been disappointed once. Ive been to many butcher shops in the GTA and Solmaz for the quality and price point cannot be beat. I love coming here and trying all the cuts of steak that they have to offer, even the dry aged ribeyes. The people are very polite and willing to help if you’re indecisive.
Beware if eating the turkey sausages. My husband broke a piece of his molar off from something hard within the sausage. Maybe it was a piece of bone?? He swallowed so we couldn’t look for whatever it was. I did reach out to customer service but have had no reply. His tooth is very sensitive and will require fixing and his cheek is sore from the rough spot on his tooth. He sees the dentist tomorrow. Praying it’s fixable and only needs a filling .
I have made many briskets in my time. I decided to buy one from solmaz this time. The gentleman was super nice and even trimmed off some of the fat on the outside.
Fast forward to today when I am having my company over. I cooked the brisket and it was the worst one ever. The fat in the middle seriously made this $117.00 cut of meat inedible. I am having company over shortly and am at a loss. I do not know where they got their brisket or how it was initially cut but this is a waste of money. There is more fat than meat. I can’t serve this.
I think they need to look at their supplier? Or however they cut the brisket.
I had a second brisket I got as I am hosting twice and the one I our used from Metro looks fantastic and it was less expensive.
We usually come here to purchase meet. We don’t have that many options in London Ontario. People are nice but we had a help from an amazing guy today. He is from Mauritania. Very welcoming and kind. He was able to help us with our order quickly and did what we expected plus being kind and cheerful as well. We wish if the store was bigger but it has what we need for halal meet selection.
This is Canada, we expect pork bacon. I found it very strange that a butcher does not carry any pork products, and I highly recommend updating your selection to accommodate this. Furthermore, the meat is not fresh and does not comply with Canadian refrigeration laws. The meat was spoiled and the store had a foul odour. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and contacting Health Canada to ensure this establishment is following all safety protocols.
